Michal Strawn is a full-time senior educational consultant with BWS Education Consulting. She started working in test prep soon after graduating summa cum laude from Capital University in 2015, moved to full-time test prep in January 2017, and expanded into comprehensive college counseling upon completing the UCLA College Counselor Certificate program in April 2018.
Michal enjoys the challenge of college counseling and helping students make one of the most important decisions of their young lives. Each student and situation is different, and Michal customizes her approach and recommendations for each family. She is adept at making students feel comfortable and working through high school stressors while helping them navigate both test preparation and all aspects of the college admissions process. Michal is extremely organized—a skill she passes on to students.
When she is not meeting with students, Michal travels the country to visit college campuses and meet with admissions officers, staying up-to-date with which colleges will be best fits for her clients. She has toured colleges from Columbus to Boston and Chicago to Pittsburgh and has presented on testing and admissions to professional organizations, parent groups, and student gatherings. Her students have been admitted to a wide range of colleges including Carnegie Mellon, Boston College, and the University of Pittsburgh.
Michal helps families by bringing an outside point of view and the personal attention often not readily available in other settings. She is a member of the Ohio Association of College Admissions Counseling and the Independent Educational Consultants Association. Michal has limited availability for college counseling packages, ensuring that each family has the access and deep relationship-building needed to make the college admissions process as free from stress as possible.
